Have you heard about the Yakuza project Anton Kusters did a few years ago? It’s honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
Kusters states on his website that it took him and his brother ten months of negotiations with the Yakuza before they were granted permission to take photos. He then descended into their world, and spent two years with the organized crime group snapping photos. The amount of time and effort Kusters puts into this project blows my mind, but when I flip through Kusters’ work, the only phrase I can find to describe it is “that good things come to those who wait”.
